Invite your list of contacts to follow you on Facebook. If you use an email service provider like Constant Contact, you may find a template already created with a Facebook graphic that you can use. As a Constant Contact partner, I can attest to this fact. They have several Facebook templates, including ones that say “Find me on Facebook.”
Let’s Connect on Facebook
Here’s a tip – Don’t use “Find me on Facebook” as your subject line. Imagine you received an email like that. Most people’s reaction may be, “so what?” A better strategy is to use the phrase, “Let’s connect on Facebook.” It’s more social and appealing!
In the body of your email, keep the message short and sweet. Tell your contacts in one sentence WHY they should connect with you on Facebook. I sent out this type of email the other day, and it only included two paragraphs. The first paragraph explained what type of content I feature on my page. The second paragraph invited my contacts to post questions on my Facebook wall. Here’s what the email looked like:
And of course, at the end of the email, I included a “Like me on Facebook” graphic that linked directly to my Facebook page.
Here’s the beauty of this email – my open rate and click through rates were much larger than normal. And just about everyone who opened the email, and wasn’t already a fan of my page, became one.
